Session 27

Church In A Brewery 02-08-2021

Discussion Questions:

  1. Are people inherently good or bad?  Where do your beliefs fall on the spectrum?
  2. How does your view of the state of the human heart affect your view of God?  Yourself?  Others?
  3. Read the scriptures below and try to answer this question while factoring all 7 verses.  How does God feel about people?
  4. Considering your answer to #3, how should we respond?  Does this change anything about how we should live?

Scripture to consider for question 3:

Jeremiah 17:9 – The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick.  Who can understand it?

Genesis 8:21:  I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth.

Psalm 119:11:  I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Luke 6:45:  The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Micah 7:19:  He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot.  You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

John 3:16:  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 5:5:  And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
