About

Reinventing Bible study for people who ask hard questions — and people who find the Bible hard to read.

Mission

Why We Exist

Most people's picture of the Bible was formed before they were old enough to really evaluate it. Brewery Ministries exists to offer a second look — one that takes the text seriously, welcomes honest questions, and refuses to pretend the hard parts aren't there.

Some who join us are curious about God but hesitant to walk into a church. Others are Christians who want a deeper, more rigorous way into scripture than they've ever been offered. Nobody has to pick a label to have a seat at the table — wherever you're coming from, you're welcome.

There's a second barrier we think about constantly. For a lot of people — especially younger readers — the Bible is simply hard to get into. The language is old, the world behind it is unfamiliar, and stories that should stop you in your tracks get lost somewhere in the translation. Those stories are life-changing once you're past that barrier. Most of our work is about lowering it.

Story

How It Started

Beer & Spirituality began with a discovery: many people in our city were already having conversations about God — but a lot of them told us they were unlikely to ever try a regular church. The hunger to explore a relationship with God was real; the front door just wasn't. So in 2020, we decided to create a place for them. Since many of those early conversations were happening in music venues and breweries, we knew a table at a brewery would be a perfect fit.

Every week since, that table has filled with people talking about life, faith, and the Bible in a casual, judgment-free space. No sermons, no pressure — just good conversation over good beer.

The games came out of that table. Reading a chapter aloud wasn't the way everyone best met a story, so we started building the scene instead — something you could pull up on your phone and actually be inside. That grew into a free library of studies with pixel-art games and cutscenes woven through them, discussion questions for groups that meet anywhere from breweries to living rooms, and a YouTube channel digging into the same texts.

Approach

How We're Different

We meet in breweries because the conversations that happen there — honest, low-stakes, genuinely curious — are exactly the ones the Bible invites. No performance, no pressure, no jargon.

Our content draws on biblical scholarship, ancient history, archaeology, and original languages to show the text in its fullest context. We think that context makes the Bible more credible and more interesting — not less.

Why Games

Something You Play, Not Something You Sit Through

Most of us grew up being told the Bible mattered. Far fewer of us were ever shown why its stories are as strange and gripping as they actually are.

We build games because a story you move through lands differently than a paragraph you skim. Standing in the temple of Dagon with your hands on the pillars is not the same experience as reading a verse about it.

Right now we're building the entire book of Job as something you can play from beginning to end.

I think about my own kids, and what would make them want to open this book instead of feeling obligated to. The barrier usually isn't belief. It's the language, the distance, and the sense that this is going to feel like school. If we can get someone past all of that to the story underneath, that's where the thing that actually changes people lives.
